Alexandra Grossman, M.D., M.S.
I learned to love Vermont during my time at Middlebury College, and would later complete residency at Dartmouth, drawn similarly to the area’s landscape and sense of community. My time in outpatient rotations throughout the Upper Valley taught me the value in deeply knowing each other and the community. Doctors showed openness, generosity, and mentorship; patients were kind, honest, and shared countless stories.
I set true roots in the Upper Valley in 2006, with the birth of my second daughter. My husband settled in as a family physician at White River Family Practice and I as an internist at DHMC. After two years there, I joined the section of primary care at the White River Junction VA Medical Center.
The VA’s academic integrity, culture of veterans, and attending physician role models and mentors filled me with pride for my work and gratitude for the support of others. I worked there for 16 years, caring for a medically complex patient population, teaching Dartmouth residents, and developing innovative programs to support Veterans with diabetes in achieving greater autonomy in their care. I look forward to sitting for the national exam to become board certified in advanced diabetes management in late 2025.
Outside of work, I enjoy Wild Swimming on weekend mornings with my friends until it’s much too cold; losing my way on familiar trails with my two dogs; knitting crazy mittens, hats, and sweaters; and spending time with my husband and two young-adult daughters.
